Orion configuration

hi,

i have orion 8.5, i want to move it to another server..., i installed everything,how do i transfer all the the configuration from the old server to the new , what is the conf. file i need to copy ? how do i transfer all the maps ?

hi,

the maps were mifgrate with no problem , but how can i migrate the System manger conf. - with all the nodes i did there?

The configuration of the nodes which can be browsed through system manager is in the database.

If you moved Orion to another box then it created another entry in the Engines table and you need to follow the step "Reassigning Nodes" in the guide Mark gave you in his post.

i am doing exactly like it is written.

i am restoring the back file from the old server (i copied it to my new server deskto), go to the Engines Query, but i can see only the new server.(i shutdown the everyting on the service manger except the SQL express).

when i am changging the name of the server and turn on the server manger , i have two servers...(but they are the same).

the nodes are still empty.

is there a way just ot take the nodes and copy them to the System manger ?

The nodes seem to be reflecting the Old Engine ID. Verify which Engine ID the nodes table is reflecting- After hitting Query /Refresh you need to scroll over to the middle to locate this column.

After migrating the Orion installation to the new server - did you Run the Configuration Wizard and specify the existing (or newly restored) database on the Database setup section of the wizard?

When prompted, click Yes to use the existing database.

yes it is using the existing data base called solarwindsnpm.

i also run the wizard and everything is working fine, also the maps are ok, only the nodes on the system manger are not copied, i did the back up and restore on the database but it seems like something is not route good.

is there a conf file that i can copy from the old server that includ all the nodes - i do not need the past of the data base.

You need to reassign the EngineID in the database so that it sees the old Nodes that are still assigned to the old EngineID.

Connect to your SQL Database, and then choose the "Engines" table (hit Query /Refresh)

You will see the Engine ID field here as the very first column - move the radial button at the top of the window to "Read/Write" and change it so that it matches the engine ID of the Nodes table Engine ID. That should copy all your nodes to the new polling engine.

but the nodes query is empty there is no nodes there.... also i can not see the Engin ID, on the columns it is giving me on index 35 data type-int.

no other information.
