SNMP Port. Alternative Ports?
francismcphail
Was just wondering if it's possible to use other UDP ports than 161 for SNMP polling?
We are currently polling external networks via the Internet, on the external routers we are suing port UDP 161, and forward as needed incrementing UDP ports 162, 163, etc... through to other decives on the internal network we wish to monitor. Can't seem to see a way to change the default SNMP port.
Cheers.
Francis.

As far as I know, you can't change this, but if you call the support line, perhaps they have a patch or util
that can allow you to do this?

Maybe this could be encoded in a URL of some kind now that the program has dynamic capabilities by name. Something like snmp://192.168.3.3:163.

No luck with SolarWinds tech support. The information I recevied back from them is that is was not implimented. Which I think is a little strange.
As for encoding it in a URL type string no luck with that either. Pitty it can't handle other SNMP ports as I might have to go back to using CACTI.
