Orion System Admin Tool Pak?

Is there a setup program to allow the installation on a client computer (ie. notebook computer) to use the tools in SolarWinds Orion?

I would like the ability to use the tools and configure Orion without having to RDP to the server for where NPR is installed on. For example, I would like to open the System Manager on my local desktop or notebook and point it to the Orion NPR server that is performing the SolarWinds Services.

Is there such a thing and how do I get it?

There used to be a remote admin pack but this is no longer available-

Is there a plan to bring this sort of thing back. I would be very interested in seeing this. In fact it is one of my only major gripes about the software.

well darn. I would sure like to see a add on to do this. Is there a workaround?

The plan is to move to web-based administration, which will make everything remote-able.

FYI, the old admin pack didn't allow you to add/remove/manage your nodes.

So the only thing it was good for was maps and reports.

Actually, the older admin pack DID allow you to add/remove/manage your nodes. In a later release that was removed and only maps and reports could be managed. That apparently lead to the admin pack being discontinued. A web-based administration capability will be better though, if it is done right.

I could really go either way. I usually prefer a client based admin pack rather than a web. Thats only because most web based admin tools are poorly designed. I'm currently the only one that works on our Solarwinds server but the boss is pushing me to train other people. Once we get a few more people accessing this server regularly I could see the time sharing being a real issue.
