Cannot edit a custom property anymore

Hello folks,

Based on recommendation from a posting(can't find it since the move), I created a custom property so an user with clear alerts/events can change it. I can't pinpoint the exact time, but now those users cannot update this property anymore only the admin. I ran the configuration wizard which restarts the services and it did not make a difference. I am not sure where to look at, I was planning an upgrade to the latest version of Orion, but it seems like a huge step for a such a small problem. Does anyone have any suggestions or knows of any outstanding issues? my current version is 8.0.2.

There is another post from today which mentioned the "Allowed to Clear Events" user account property was unchecked for all users after the upgrade to 8.1.

You will have to re-enable this for all users which should have CPE update rights, as this is based on the clear events permission being enabled.
Also any custom resource or asp code may have have been over-written by the upgrade & you might have to re-apply the custom code.

I suggest making a backup of all files in the ....\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon directory [add to zip] before doing the upgrade.
That way you can recover your custom code & reapply it to 8.1

Thanks for the reply. I did not upgrade to 8.1 though and the clear events checkbox is still checked. I wouldn't mind going through the process again, but I got it off a post on the old site that I cannot find since the move. Would you happen to have the link, I believe that you were on the thread.

To only allow Users with the "Clear Event" permission to update CPs, change the EditCustomProperty.Update.asp code to the following:

The VerifyLogin “USER” verifies that the user is logged in with a valid AccountID and Password.

The If NetPerfMon.CurrentAccount.AllowEventClear Then line checks if the user is allowed to clear events.

Here is the resource file which I use to link to the CPE page from the node details page.

Simply add this line of code to this file (or whatever Custom Resource you display on your Node-Details page):

You will have to change the ViewID=56 to whatever number used to display the CPE page which you have created.

To remove the header from the Update Custom Property view, edit the following file:
