External Node Availability Report

Question

Hi,

We have several External Nodes set up for devices that we can not reach directly. By using a SAM script we get the status of these devices and then use this to change the status of the External nodes so we can still alert on them etc.

However, Node availability reporting does not seem to work for these nodes. Its either because its set up as an External Node or because its had its status changed by something else.

Does anyone know a way that i can get something similar to the default Availability report for these external nodes.

Hi,

Yes, the SAM script is setting the status of the nodes, but its one SAM script running but updating 4500 external nodes. I also need the granularity of each outage for each node.

I think i have found what i need in the Node Downtime History. Bizarrely It doesnt show you Node Down/Up Events in the event log or calculate availability for External nodes, but it does record the node status change time and date and calculates the outage duration, which is exactly what i need.

So what's going on is that your SAM script is setting the status but it's not populating all the other tables that would normally be populated when polling a node.  Can't you just report based on the availability of the SAM script and basically get the same results?
