Anyone having problems downloading CatOS configs with NCM 5.0?

I've been trying to get NCM to download CatOS running configs for about 6 weeks now. I upgraged from Cirrus which was working fine, and now CatOS downloads are no longer working. I've been working with support for weeks and still have not gotten a solution. If anyone has run in to this and solved it already please let me know the fix.

There are a couple of different version of 1900s out there. If you look through some other posts you will find three cat 1900 templates. Since I have been using them I have been able to reliably download the configs, although we still get some time outs.

I upgrades to NCM 5.1 today. It still did not solve the issue. I was however able to modify the CatOS device template and get the downloads working. Here is the modified template.

<Configuration-Management Device="Cisco Catalyst CatOS" SystemOID="1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5">

We were having intermittent failures on config saves and while tonight's full basckup job will be the real test, so far today after changing the template it seems to be better.

Thanks for pointing out the change. That's interesting, we didn't change the template so you might have modified the original CatOS device template in v4 and it got overwritten with the upgrade.

I'll open a ticket to get this template updated for the next release.

If you're current on maintenance, you should see 5.1 in your portal.

I wonder if this template would work for the Cisco 1900. When I try to log in to a 1900 with NCM 5.1, it always "fails at the login banner" (using the Add Node wizard). I think it is because when the 1900 boots you are presented with a screen where you must enter an M for menu access or a K for command line access. Could it be that NCM has no way of entering the K without altering the device template?

Am I on the right track? If this template will not do that, is there a command that I need to do that?

You can try adding the following pre-command to the the CatOS template.

or try the attached test Cisco Catalyst 1900 template. Please remove the ".txt" extension on the file when placing it in your <drive>:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration Management\DeviceTypes\ folder.

i had the same issue and this was my fix

on devices that have ios then switch comes with the ">" carrot sign. eg switch>

our catos prompt was set to "switch"

placed the command "set prompt switch>"

that little carrot got me going

Not sure what you mean here 88tb1rd. I eventually will be ">", but the problem is the "more" output taht confuses NCM at first. What exactly did you do to get the ">" prompt to appear without getting stuck at the MORE page prompt?
