Anyone know how to verify NCM is backing up configs using the SCP server vs TFTP? I've configured it and the job seems to be completing, but I'd like some evidence it is using the correct one.
When a job completes, There is a historical job.You can try to open it and look at those logs
That log doesn't show which server it used. I need to validate it's using the secure FTP
Easiest way: disable SolarWinds TFTP services in services.msc and then download configs. Did it work? Then SolarWinds TFTP service wasn't involved.
Could do this instead if the change is permitted without too much grief:
Uninstall the TFTP Server from the Windows Add/ Remove Programs.
Download configs
If you want TFTP functionality back in place:
Install the TFTP server from c:\programdata\solarwinds\installers

Thanks, I did that and the config download did work but any ideas on how I can show this is happening for compliance auditing? I need to show a log or something to prove this is being done securely. I opened a ticket with Support, but they can't seem to understand what I'm asking.
This is getting really strange. I’ve verified the TFTP server service is off, and the SCP/SFTP service is on. I can re-execute a transfer successfully and it says it downloaded the config, but I see nothing happening in the window and nothing going to the root directory.
I know this is an old question and probably too late for you but I would use session trace for logs. There may be a better option but it's the one I know of.https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Generate-session-trace-logs?language=en_US
