IPAM Fields scanning vs not scanning affects alias field

I am migrating from a Excel spread sheet to Solarwind Orinon IPAM. I am entering in maunal into the Alias field in IPAM the alias name from the excel spread sheet. I have all of my static IP addressess in IPAM at this time set to not auto scan; however I did notice that if I turn on auto scan in IPAM it will remove the alias information that I have manually entered, is there a way to prevent this from happening without creating a new field?
