SNMP Set problems

Long time reader first time writer.

I am using the MIB Browser - SNMP Set. I select the device I wish to work with (Powerware SNMP/Web card) Apply the read/write community string and select the test button. "Credentials test passed" is returned.

I enter the MIB name I wish to work with - xupsEnvAmbientUpperLimit - Change the type to Integer. Select the Get Current Value button. It returns - '{IP address} does not respond to SNMP Queries using {read/write community string}"

If I can not get the value, I will not be able to set the value. Is there something I am missing here?

Actually - My colleague is confused, SNMP set is a product of ours...

Sometimes the SNMP version can be the culprit, have your tried setting "Disable SNMPv2 requests" to checked? Also, make sure you enter the device information in the "select device" area before choose the SNMP set dialog.

If those don't get you going, send me a sniff of the SNMP traffic and we'll know for sure.

Hi mkempker,

SNMP SET is not a SolarWinds product. I't is probably better address it in the General Network Management forum. There are several SNMP tools includedand you can test drive it for 21 days free.
