Is there a way to inventory the number of Access and Distribution layer switches in my Network?
I have looked around the site, but cannot find the above answer.
Thanks
smthomas23 - This is an interesting question. What are you using as the criteria for determining Access / Aggregation? Number of ports? Configuration? Certain models you use for each purpose?

For the Distribution and Access layer we have 3750's for both layers.
I used the Engineer's Toolset switchport mapper to get the up and down ports.
But, now I need the approx. number of Dist and Access layer switches on my network.
So if I understand you correctly, you are looking to get the number of 3750s? If so, you can use the Network Sonar application, run a discovery, and it will give you a count of device by type (as well as many other things).
If that is not what you are looking for, can you clarify the criteria under which the device should be counted?
Look at the MAC addresses in Switch Port Mapper. The distro switches will all have Cisco MACs attached.
