.Net Error

I have a Windows Vista x64 Computer and a Windows 7 x64 computer and I'm having the same problem on both. Both systmes have .Net Framework 4.

When I initially installed the product, I was able to open it and run it on both systems. Once I closed the application and tried to reopen it, I now recieve this error.

I found another post on the forums on this same issue and the recommendation was to repair .Net. I ran the repair, rebooted but I still have the same issue...

Unlike previous .Net releases 4.0 is not intended to be backwards compatible with previous versions. Install .net 3.5 and its latest service pack. It will co-exist with .net 4.0.

I actually have 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 on my Windows vista system. I also have Visual Studio 2010 installed, Office 2010 x64, etc. I'm going to back out 4, do a repair on 3.5 and see if that fixes it.

I uninstalled .net 4.0 and did a repair on 3.5 on my Vista system. I still cannot open the tool.

I would also like to reiterate that the first time, after install, I opened the tool, all was working fine (which to me adds a bit of confusion at how closing the toolset would damage .net...) none the less, after that first time running it, it no longer launches.

My apologies. I was thinking I had read that you only had .net 4.0 installed in your first post but after re-reading I was mistaken. The error you are having can happen when your "My Documents" folder is corrupted. Did you change your "My Documents" folder form the default? Check the following registry entries to see what the values are:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\AppData

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Personal

Make sure the path is valid. make sure you are not missing any slashes.

Example make sure you don't see something like:

Instead, you should see something like: \

No corruption, I can get to what I need ok.

My paths are:

App Data (accessible):

C:\Users\username.domain\AppData\Roaming

Personal (UNC Path, resolvable):

\\domain.domain.biz\home\usersa_server\username

Also, remember I'm seeing those on both Windows 7 and Vista, both are x64 versions. Same issue. The app loads the first time, you close it and reopen and it generates the error.

btw, I also want to note that I backed out all of the /net framework versions and then reinstalled 3.5 (which is supposed to have 2.0 etc) and then reinstalled 4.0 as I need it for visual studio 2010
