Just for my knowledge, why does VoIP Monitor need a read/write string? What does it write? And is there anyway to run it with just a read string? Thanks

Good day Cpl Wallace,
VoIP leverages IP SLA. In IP SLA you configure a router on one end of a voice path to test the path to the far end. The SolarWinds VoIP module writes the configuration for you, adding the parameters to measure delay, jitter and MOS. We have built in the ability to do a manual installation also if your security environment does not allow you r/w access.
Andy
Thank you very much for the information
Andy,
My boss is trying to get authorization to put a r/w string on our network, but in the event that he's denied, how would one perform a manual setup? I haven't actually touch VoIP Monitor yet, as I've been building yet another SW cluster, but any help would be appriciated.

When you get into the install there is a place to choose auto or manual setup. Choose manual and the manual instructions will pop up. Also recommend careful reading of the manual before doing anything. Cisco's web page has some good info on configuring IP SLA.
Thank you again. I'm sure that will help our VoIP team.
