I must say I am quite impressed with the VoIP monitor but I have a couple of feature requests. * In addtion to MOS graph ICPIF * Fix the MOS graph to max out at 5. Having a scale of 0 - 10 for MOS is kinda silly * Provide simple PRI capacity monitoring (free B-channels). This could be pollable directly to H.322 gateways or polled through the callmanager for MGCP -Brandon

Pri (free channels) would be a very useful feature. How does VOIP monitor stack up against Prognosis ? Anyone had experience of both ?

I agree with the above.

The MOS graphs would be much nicer if they maxed out at 5. It would be much easier to see the changes quickly.

Any type of PRI capactity monitoring would be nice.

These are all on the roadmap except ICPIF. Do y'all use MOS and ICPIF together?

Right now we're using MOS because that's what VoIP monitor is giving us. From my experience it seems that certain papers use MOS while others use ICPIF. If we had the ability to either pick one or show both, I think it could be helpful.

I would like to be able to monitor any of the Cisco IP SLA tests, not just the VoIP related ones.

I agree on the benefits of having this ability. Seeing that IP SLA can do a whole bunch of things, what 5 to 6 of the probe types other than VoIP related one would you be most interested in.

ICMP Echo (Allows monitoring from a routers POV vs the collector)
ICMP Path Jitter
TCP Connect
HTTP
FTP
DHCP

All these are not dependant on having an IOS as a responder which is nice. 1 and 2 can help do general RTT statistics as well as monitoring nodes based on the routers POV and not the collector. 3 - 4 are would be nice for those "Application X is slow during certain hours" type tickets that we get all the time.

1. Generate and monitor more than 1 type of service. It would be nice to see and compare Default class with Protected Class (voice). This way you can keep your WAN provider honest.

2. Persistent SLA configuration numbers in the router. Auto configurations increment the SLA configuration numbers if the router is reloaded.

I dunno about prognosis but we use ClarusIPC for monitoring PRI channels and it seems to work pretty well. You have to have MGCP type gateways but that's all we have.

I've done some testing with the prognosis tool and felt that it gave you all the information you could ever want to know about your call manager servers and the rest of the IPT environment. The two drawbacks that we came across was the price (compared to other competitors) and the fact that it gave you too much information. If you knew exactly what you want to look at, prognosis will give you that. if you are unsure as to the specific data that is of relevenace, you can easily get lost in all of the graphs it can present to you. All in all it's a great tool and if i had the cash to spend, i would put it there. Comparing it to solarwinds, they have a little more work to do then just providing some IP SLA stats and phone/gateway registration/deregistration. It would be great if soalrwinds would look deeper into the call manager servers and even the other Unified communications servers such as Unity, meeting place, IPCC, etc, which they currently have no support of at the current point in time.

How about a workaround for the infamous "unmanaged interface" warnings generated by any cisco router? By this I mean the unlisted VoIP-Null0 interface.

I don't care that it's Cisco's fault... we need an "off switch" for this annoyance!
