Alerting in virtualization manager

Hi,

This may be a silly question but i have just setup virtualization manager but cannot find where i manage alerts or where alerts should be sent to.

Are alerts just sent to all users and is there any management on what alerts are sent?

Hi,

firstly it's necessary to setup SMTP server (in Setup - Advanced Setup - SMTP Configuration). Then you can configure alerts to send results to email address:

For further details please see VMAN Documentation (Virtualization Manager Administrator Guide : Alerts : Notifications).

It's necesary to set the Notification tab for each alert you want to get results via email.

PS: if you want to send results from particular alert to more people then I would recommend that you create mailing list.

PS2: you can choose if all results from the alert are included in one email (set "alert.rollup" property to true in Setup - Advanced Setup - System Properties menu) or each alert result is sent separately ("alert.rollup"=false).

A small note: you can also insert more email addresses (not just mailing list) separated by comma or semicolon.
