Orion Agent not restarting when server reboots

Question

We have some Windows servers with agent on them and, when they reboot with the patching cycle, the agent doesn't restart. The agents are installed via the Orion server itself, rather than manual installation on the server.

The investigation with SolarWinds so far have not found anything in the agent logs (it's not starting) and have suggested switching the agent to server initialised (I didn't quite understand this because if the agent isn't running then it's not going to respond) and also setting the service to delayed start (which I don't really want to have to do as a work around, but this seems to be the last option available and we're not sure if it will be a stable work around either at the moment... we've just tested a couple of test servers)

So the question is whether other people have experienced this behaviour and whether there is any advice or wisdom that people can share.

I have a similar issue although for me the agent restarts when the server comes online but report "unable to connect to agent" unless i restart the agent service again.

All my agents are at the latest version and servers are rebooted every month regardless of patching or not.

Is it possible you may have not updated your agents in a long time? It may be that the code signing certificate expiration may be preventing the agent from running. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the agent to see if that resolves the issue?
