In SRM are you able to change the "Type" property on a Disk on this Array? Or is this information coming from the SMI-S provider. This is a Dell Compellent SAN.

Yes, this info is comming from the SMI-S provider or it seems to be is missing from the SMI-S provider.
The Dell Compellent on the Orion demo page is the same, so the info is probably not avaible:
