How Do I Get Rid Of STM And Move To SRM

It seems the information out there is very vague on this.

Most all documentation points to STM.

We never got STM setup completely...we never added our NetApp devices into it so basically it was sitting there useless.

I've seen the stuff about integrating both but why would I want to do that?

I would like to just be able to get rid of STM and utilize SRM.

How can this easily be accomplished?

I just went through this. I had NPM & SAM on the same server with the STM integration module as STM was on its own server. I removed/uninstalled the STM module from my Orion NPM server. Then installed SRM. During the process it asks you if you want to link STM to it. This is so you can share licenses if you will have the same devices on each. I was confused at first too. We now have our EMC stuff only in SRM, Netapp is in both and a few fabric switches which are only in STM as they are not supported yet in SRM. The license share counts works as expected. Our Netapps aren't counted twice.

So I would think for you it is simple.

Are you under active maintenance for STM? If so, you should see SRM in your customer portal.

Yes, I have downloaded the requisite SRM install files but the question on install is vague. All of it seems to deal with integration with STM. I don't want that. I only want to use SRM and how do I get rid of the STM? Do I just uninstall it or what?

There is a specific install for the orion component. You'll need to uninstall the STM integration from the SolarWinds server and install this new SRM Orion component. Just note, you'll have to add all your storage back in manually.

We never added in our SAN storage so that part is good to go. Wouldn't I need to remove the STM from the separate machine it is on and install the SRM with Full SQL?
