Has anyone managed to get profiler to send traps or syslogs to an upstream manager instead of sending emails. I want to see all my problems in one place, Orion by preference
Profiler MIB is already in the Orion MIB database. Simply add the Orion IP address as another Trap Destination in the Profiler OS Policy. After which, all the normal Alert management principles in Orion apply to manage your email and other notification preferences.
OK so now the traps are appearing in the traps page but they dont make much sense to 1st line support.
I would alert on them but traps are not in the list of alert objects in the Alert Manager, I could just put an entry in the Events Log but that is not an option in the list of actions in Trap Viewer. I can't send a better trap from Orion's Trap viewer either as I can only forward a trap not create one although I could from the Alert Actions if I could Alert.
So can I edit the trap which is sent from Profiler or is there another way of getting something meaningful to pass to 1st line. Ideally I would like to alert on the trap(s) as I could then use my standard trap actions.
Any ideas welcome
