What is Orion Platform called when viewing it in Windows Control Pannel -> Programs & Features

If i wanted to look at the list of installed programs in Windows and determine IF and WHAT VERSION of Orion Platform we have installed, what should I look for? Orion Core Services is my best guess.

Secondly, does the version listed correlate to anything? For example, Orion Core Services version 120.2.27977.15320 equals what Orion Platform version? 119.2.15498.5220? Is there a table that shows this info?

Is there a mapping somewhere that shows which version number (that shows in Windows installed software list) corresponds to what release name?

For example, I believe that when Windows shows:

SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2020.2.1 [version 120.2.27977.15320] [installed on 2020/12/14]

it means it is:

Orion Platform 2020.2.1 Hotfix 1 (new)

released on October 29th, 2020

but, unfortunately, this version number identification detail is not confirmed in the release notes (that I can see).

Obviously, these are the most important release names for which it would be helpful to have the corresponding version numbers:

Orion Platform 2020.2.1 Hotfix 2 (new)	released on December 15th, 2020
Orion Platform 2020.2.1 Hotfix 1 (new)	released on October 29th, 2020
Orion Platform 2020.2 Hotfix 1 (new)	released on June 24th, 2020
....
Orion Platform 2019.4 Hotfix 5 (new)	released on March 26th, 2020

It's nice that there might be manual ways for a user to check release name in the UI, but the version number is actually accessible programmatically which can make it much more useful for effective checks/confirmation.

Hotfixes do not affect the installed version number you see in Add/Remove Programs. You will need to go to 'View Installed Updates" to see which Orion product hotfixes have been applied.

There is a version number somewhere, that changes with different installs. For instance, it gets pulled in by the Nessus scanner Microsoft Windows Installed Software Enumeration plugin.

For example, I've seen output such as:

SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2017.1 [version 117.1.1698.5300] [installed on 2017/10/09]
SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2017.3 [version 117.3.1819.5320] [installed on 2017/11/02]
SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2018.2 [version 118.2.4510.5220] [installed on 2018/07/27]
SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2019.2 [version 119.2.15498.5220] [installed on 2019/07/31]
SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2019.4 [version 119.4.20161.5220] [installed on 2019/11/13]
SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2020.2.1 [version 120.2.27977.15320] [installed on 2020/12/14]

.. but unfortunately, I have no way to map the version number to release name -- since the release notes (with release names) don't include version numbers, and the Windows installed list (with version numbers) doesn't include/enumerate the hotfix ID part of the release name.

Surely, there is a mapping between the two somewhere. If for nothing else, getting that info for just for 2019.4 HF5 and 2020.2 HF1 would be great.

If you want the YYYY.Q.SR HF# format, you can directly query the database.

The problem is that not every hotfix updates ever single file, so some versions (like Orion Core Services 120.2.27977.13520) could be running on a few different versions (2020.2 or 2020.2 HF1 or 2020.2.1 or 2020.2.1 HF1). It's much easier to reference the system itself if you want the 'easy' version number - like 2020.2.1 HF1. This is one of the reasons that we've been trying to be as diligent as possible in putting the version name in the actual "Name" field as stored by Windows. From below, you can see that this is 2020.2.1 (seen on "Uninstall or change a program")

And this environment has HF2 for that release installed (as seen on "Installed Updates")

These are just a few ways, but there are more. I guess the question is: what are you trying to exactly accomplish with this?
