CPU on main poller near 100% since upgrade.

I have the Solarwinds main poller installed on a physical 16 cpu HP blade with 48GB ram. It tends to use about 11-12GB.

All the components were at the previous revision, i.e. SAM was 6.2.3. They were all upgraded to the latest versions. These are;

Orion Platform 2016.1.5300, NCM 7.5, IPAM 4.3.1, IVIM 2.1.2, NetPath 1.0, DPA 10.0.1, NPM 12.0, QoE 2.1.0, SAM 6.2.4, NTA 4.2.0

Our web interface (which is on the main poller) was running really well, nice and quick, now it's sluggish and I'm concerned people are going to get fed up with pages taking ages to load. Has anyone else who has upgraded, and who has similar installed products, had high cpu issues? We also have Virtualization Manager installed and integrated.

The server is running Windows 2012 R2 and is missing only a handful of the latest Microsoft patches. SQL is on a separate physical machine, HP blade, with an IO accellerator card for the database (very fast), and there has been no change on that server, so it's not a factor. We have one additional poller in another site - that was upgraded just fine, that is a VM with 8 cores and 16GB RAM. The performance on the additional poller is about 40-50% - which is quite normal and the same as when the previous version was installed.

Since I logged the call on the 15th I have had ZERO contact from Solarwinds support - they have not even started the ticket, despite it being logged as 'High'.

What are we paying maintenance for?

I would absolutely start looking at the logs immediately. Since the issue does not look related to the information service you will want to start looking here C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion

I would look at interface and core collector logs. Chances are you have a specific device type and or interface that is not liking the upgrade. You could potentially unmanage those devices and stabilize your platform. Good Luck.

you can give a call to support center and request them to take the case logged. They will immediately help...

In case anyone else has similar issues with high cpu after the upgrade my case number was 1001924

I have had this issue before also. It depends on how many network nodes you are monitoring and the polling rate. We have 3 polling engines and one was maxing out on the CPU. I moved some devices from it to another polling engine and it seemed to help. We later increased the CPU cores and memory on that poller.

I would look at the polling rate first then try moving nodes to another poller. From what you have loaded (Modules) on that server it might be trying to run too many apps and poll also.
