Work around ICMP

I am very new to SolarWinds so forgive me if this is a noob question. We have a few servers on our network that require ICMP to be turned off. Is there a way to get SolarWinds to poll these servers if it cannot ping them? It found them on the initial scan but it is reporting the node is down and 100% packet loss.

Assuming you have snmp/wmi working then you can go to list resources on that node and change the status and response time poller to use snmp instead of icmp

Yeah, I've seen this resolution before. The problem is that I don't have that option when I view the resources (see screenshot).

You would need to configure snmp on the windows machine, and change the polling method afterwards.

Another option is deploying the SolarWinds agent on it.

OK, so I have snmp working on the server and when I go to Edit Node and test the connection, it tests good. But, SAM is still reporting that the node is down. I've tried re-polling and rediscovering the node but it has not made a difference.

And did you go to list resources and change the status and response time to SNMP?

Yes, I did. Once I got snmp working, that option showed up. I have changed it but it still shows down.
