Using SAM to monitor AD. How much is too much?

I am setting up SAM to monitor my AD environment. I have multiple sites and domain controllers. Ideally, I want to use SAM to monitor Active Directory Services and Counters, Domain Controller Security and DNS. Considering those three SAM templates consume 85 monitors per DC, do I gain any information by monitoring all of my DC's? Or can I get pretty much the same information by monitoring my main DC? DC's are all on VM's, which are being monitored through Virtualization Manager.
