Component Monitor Description in an alert email

Hello to all

I have recently created an Application monitorusing the File Age monitor template

Under the components monitor, I 've added multiple monitor, all about file age, but regarding different folders and files

I'm searching for a way for mail server to send me the folder of the file that has status other than "up"

I changed the Description of each component monitor but there is no option to insert this variable in the email body of the alert

If anyone has an idea how to send the path or the description of the component inside the email, will be very helpful

I know component level user notes works, we are using this:

<b>UserNotes:</b>${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.UserNotes}.

Worst case, could you move it to the notes?

Well, this neither is working

the variable ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.UserNotes} is appearing as is in the email

sfbpf42 - If your Alert is "Application" type, and you have renamed each component of the Application Template to reflect the information you need (e.g. Folder name) this macro will show you the components (by their name) that are not "UP"

You will only get access to the component monitor level variables if you are alerting on the component.

If you are using an Application alert, you can use ${N=SwisEntity;M=ApplicationAlert.ComponentsWithProblemsFormatted} as jorich mentioned. This variable will list the components with issues under the application monitor.

If you use a Component alert, you can reference different component level variables. You would want to add a filter to the alert so it doesn't trigger on EVERY component causing an issue (i.e. filtered to this particular application monitor/template). The variable ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.UserDescription} shows what is under the User Description field on the component details view.

Thanks everybody for all the answers.

As njoylif suggested, I opened a case with Solarwinds. They proposed the field ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.Description} and, in addition, to set the alert to "Component"and not to "Application".

It didn't return anything, but when I changed it to "Component", the field ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.UserNotes} returned the notes of every component, so everything is OK now for me

Dears,

I too have the same question but a bit different, in the message body if i want to include the value or message of the alert how to get.

For example am monitoring the SSL expiry and if a warning alert is triggered, i want to include

"Certificate will expire in 79 day(s). Expiration date: 11/6/2018"

from the below components statistica and message.

Kindly help me out to achieve this.
