Currently have SAM - just bought NPM, NTA & UDT

Question

Hi All!  My organization has had SAM for about 2 years now and have a lot of configuration time in it.  I've been scoring the SolarWinds documentation and Thwack community for assistance, but haven't found what I'm looking for.  We would like to migrate our existing SAM database into a new SQL environment (which is the easy part), while at the same time, install our new products, NPM, NTA and UDT using the same, new SQL environment.  I've seen from my research that SAM and NPM utilize the same database name so was wondering how to install all of these applications properly and in the right order, without messing up our previous SAM environment/config.  My plan was to maintain the same application server for SAM, and then install each additional SolarWinds application to its own individual application servers, so they each have their own resources.  Will doing this still allow the different applications to integrate with each other?

SolarWinds recommends a separate NTA Flow Storage Database. 2More or less space may be needed depending on your data retention policies, number of elements measured, and polling frequency. 3RAM for the NTA Flow Storage Database should be increased as the database size increases. 4More or less space may be needed depending on your data retention policies and the number of flows stored. You need approximately 8 GB of additional storage for every 1000 flows that are retained for 30 days. Thanks for the reply!  I'll definitely perform the upgrade of SAM first (AppServer1), then migrate its database into the new SQL server (DBServer1).  I'll then plan to install NPM on a new server (AppServer2) and point it to the same, new SQL server (DBServer1) for the database.  Then I'll install UDT on a new server (AppServer 3) and point it to the same, new SQL server (DBServer1) for the database.  Lastly, are you saying NTA needs its own separate SQL server (DBServer2)?  Also, does NTA have to be installed on the same server as SAM (AppServer1)?

Other than the questions, does this architecture sound solid?

I'd suggest to assure that you migrated to Orion platform 2016 before installing anything (enough to upgrade SAM to newest version). Than  install NPM on the same database, next install UDT. NTA needs to install FSDB database firstly on it's own server (suggested solution by SW). Then install NTA on Orion server (the same which you run SAM).
