Sending email alerts for Appinsight for SQL components

Question

Hi

We are starting to use some of the components monitored via Appinsight for SQL to use for KPIs..eg batch rec/s etc.

Is there a way that we can get email alert for when these components we have choosen go into a warning or critical status?

I've tried setting up an alert within SAM but I can't seem to get to the individual components within Appinsight for SQL

We would also want these few components shown on a separate tab in our summary page....is that able to be done without showing all the other components?

I do alerting on my databases being monitored by AppInsight for SQL and the alert generates an email with the components.

This is how my alert is set up:

When you set up the trigger, select AppInsight for SQL: Database from the pull down on what you want to alert on.

Under the trigger conditions I have the following conditions selected:

(I am excluding job info from my alert which is why I have them in the initial condition.)

All Child conditions must be satisified (AND)

Applnsight for SQL:Application---Availability (SQL Application Alerting Properties)---Is Equal to---Critical

AppInsight for SQL:Application---Components with problems (Application Alerting Properties)---is not equal to---SQL Agent Job Info (warning)

AppInsight for SQL:Application---Components with problems (Application Alerting Properties)---is not equal to---SQL Agent Job Info (critical)

At least one child condition must be satisfied  (OR)

AppInsight for SQL:Database---Name---is equal to---<insert database name here>

I have multiple databases so this line is repeated several times with each database name

For the trigger action I added Send an Email/Page then inserted the following variables  with comments:

The ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlDatabaseAlert.DatabaseName} database on ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlServer.node.DisplayName} is ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlServer.ApplicationAlert.ApplicationAvailability}

Host: ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlServer.Node.NodeWarrantyAlert.Hostname}

Instance:  ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlServer.ApplicationAlert.ApplicationName}

Database:  ${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlDatabaseAlert.DatabaseName}

${N=SwisEntity;M=SqlServer.ApplicationAlert.ComponentsWithProblemsFormatted}  (this line is what will pull the specific component causing the alert)

This will provide the database name, instance name, host server name and the component causing the problem, such as Batch Request/sec (Critical).

I also include instructions for our helpdesk for what action they should take and the name of this alert.
