Server OS audit...

Greetings,

I'm fairly new to Solarwinds and inherited a network that was already setup for the most part. I've gone through some of the online training but I'm looking how I would run a report to find out how many of our servers (200+) are Server 2008/2008R2 so we can work on our migration plan to Server 2016 before support ends in Jan 2020. I looked through the reports but didn't see a title that matched that description. Looking for some help on this.

Depends how you want to present the info really, I assume you want to just know any not currently at 2016 so the most basic report you could build would be something like:

Then when building the table use 'group results by' 'operating system' and it will list each version under seperate heading.

Thanks! This wasn't quite what I did to find it but this helped me out enough to get the info so I greatly appreciate it! I couldn't find what you had exactly but going through the reports, I was able to do it this way with adding Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 then continued on with Server 2012 and 2012 R2 to see where we were at and this worked.

Custom Reports are a lot of trial and error. The Columns table is where you display the data. The selected objects is where you scope what you want to report on. So in this case....servers...all devices = wmi or operating system = server 2008, 2012, etc. Columns is where you add the actual column for OS name, Application, Location, etc. Think of it like a big ol' spreadhseet.
