Error on alert send - EXCEPTION STACK

Question

Hi,

I am using Windows Server 2008.

I have SMTP server installed and configured to relay from the local host with the correct information in the SMTP Virtual Server information.

I have created a new Alert in the Advanced Alert tool and entered all the information in the Trigger window, however every test fails with the following error....

EXCEPTION STACK: --> The transport failed to connect to the server.

: CDO.Message.1 :    at Interop.cdosys.MessageClass.Send()

at SolarWinds.Orion.Core.MessageActions.ActionEmail.AsyncMailToSend.SendThis(Object state);

Any suggestions where to look?

It sounds like the SMTP server might be requiring encryption or the SMTP server only allows connections from specific IPs. I would recommend installing ThunderBird on the Orion server and trying to send email using the same SMTP server settings you've configured in Orion and see if your results differ.

I am getting same error.

In my configuration some difference is, my smtp server is Linux smpt.

We receive the traps from Wireless devices for all the APPs and convert into the email notification via SMTP setting to the respective DL’s,

Error:-

WARN  Error - Failed - Was unable to send email message.

EXCEPTION STACK: --> The transport failed to connect to the server.

: CDO.Message.1 :    at Interop.cdosys.MessageClass.Send()

at SolarWinds.Orion.Core.MessageActions.ActionEmail.AsyncMailToSend.SendThis(Object state);

How did that resolved was that a smtp issue ?

* My windows server is good it is able to send emails. Issue is only with solarwinds app. and on smpt side I am not seeing any errors or any trace related to this subject any suggestions. ?
