The Ability to Monitor Emails

Question

For an application, is it possible to create a template that produces a up/down status based on an incoming email name? Something similar to the File Change Monitor?

Essentially, I have a tool which is running a script and sending out an email with pass/fail result. I'd love to be able to create a view containing a node that has the application component which would accept the results of the UFT Script and report status. The tool sends an excel file with the subject pass or fail.  Is there a component out there that will accept a file into SW?

Can an outside application write to the Solarwinds Event log?

Have the script write an event to the event log based on Pass/Failure criteria then have SAM pick up that event as a event log component monitor.

In order to do it the way you describe would take a custom Service most likely written in C# or something to monitor the flow of data.
