How do you guys monitor your cognos 8 systems with APM? I looking to mointor process jobs and when it goes over a certein amount to trigger an alert to our BI team.

How is this information made accessible? Is it stored in a database, SNMP or some other method? I'm not terribly familiar with Cognos and I'm sure there are others here on Thwack who aren't either, but we're willing to offer suggestions and recommendations if you can provide us some background on the application.

Its worth taking a look at at least... If nothing else it might give you some ideas on how to monitor jobs that are specific to your environment. I really don't know anything about Cognos myself, but we have found that picking the brain of DBA's really helps us out when we are creating monitors for database applications.
I believe our Databases are all SQL and not oracle.
You should be able to reproduce the templates for use on SQL. Best bet would be to show the templates to a DBA and ask them how it would be done in your environment.
