Can SAM do the remote monitoring of any server ?
e.g. Can SAM Agent on Server A monitors sql server installed on Server B ? ( Server B does not have any SAM agent installed )
what all modules do you have? are u planning to monitor only via agent?
I believe the agents are made to talk back to the poller not monitor other systems.....I couldn't find any documentation about daisy-chaining agents in this manner.
Correct - At this moment in time the SolarWinds Agent deployed by SolarWinds is for monitoring the machine it is installed on only.
In order to be able to poll other devices you would need to install an ROP (Remote Office Poller) or an APE (Additional Polling Engine) both are additional products within SolarWinds Orion and need a licence.However, in case I misunderstood the question, SolarWinds can poll 2 servers in different ways, so it can poll the agent on Server A and directly poll (via SNMP or WMI) on Server B.
