MSSQL Auditor

Does the MSSQL Auditor track changes to all database/tables..etc? Or just the default master system database? I don't seem to be getting auditing events when our production database tables are edited. I followed Chp 4. in the LEM guide to get it set up. But not sure what else I need to do to be able to audit these events as well. Do I have to set up the necessary traces in SQL Server Profiler first? Thanks
