From endpoints no updates were found from our WSUS

I have recently replaced our WSUS server to use PatchManager running on Windows 2012 R2 Standard, previously we were using Microsoft SCE2010 running on Windows 2008 R2 Standard.

I have reviewed and approved/declined updates from WSUS for our endpoints. When I search for updates from the endpoints, no updates were “picked” up from our WSUS. Updates are found when I clicked on "Check online for updates from Microsoft Update."

Am I declining needed updates?

One other thing to check is when you set up patch manager you can choose what products and classifications to sync. You may be getting offered things via MU that WSUS isnt offering because you dont sync them. Take skype for instance or maybe you left out .net or whatever.

I've seen this before, but just when I don't have the updates approved through WSUS. Have you verified that you the KB's that are showing up in using Windows Update, are approved in WSUS? Them not being approved is the only reason I can see that you would see this.

The updates you get from Windows Updates are not necessarily the updates you would get from a WSUS server. If you have approved all the appropriate updates, I would check your WSUS server and see what it says the computer in question needs. If the computer in question shows a "No Status" for the updates, then the WSUS server hasn't determined what updates the computer needs out of the approved update list.

Have you turned off the old WSUS server by chance? Could it be that the old server is still running and the computer in question is still reaching out to the old server for updates?

So, it is likely that this not the problem...but given that you mentioned that you have (at some point) switched WSUS servers, then just in case you may want to:

Within the Patch Manager console, browse to one of the machines that is having the issue
Right-click that selected machine and choose Computer Explorer
Once the Computer Explorer window comes up, click on the Windows Update Settings tab. That should attempt to query the machine directly via WMI and pull back some data
(Assuming the query worked and you have some data on that tab now): Sort by the "Name" column so that the items are in alphabetical order
Find the line for "Intranet WSUS Server Service Location" and make sure it is pointed to the right WSUS server and to the right port. e.g. if your WSUS server is using port 8530, it should look like this: http://wsusservername:8530

If that is set to the wrong WSUS server (or if that line is "not configured" or empty), that could cause issues like the one you described.

"Intranet WSUS Server Service Location" is configured but with IP instead of the FQDN of our WSUS.

frgpugs you're correct. I did notice that I have Skype for business server 2015 is unchecked... only because we're not using it. Not sure why it would show up as a needed update.
