SPM Inventory Failing

Question

I'm just implementing SPM in our large environment but keep coming across issues.

After getting a cert recreated with a subject alternative name i managed to get our WSUS box talking to SPM.

It took a while to do the first inventory but it eventually finished but now the inventory fails every time within 3 minutes with the below error.

"The access permissions on the WSUS server are incorrect. Please correct the IIS access permissions."

I can't understand why this is failing, all the IIS settings look correct and the first Inventory did work.

Has anybody got any ideas or has anybody come across this before?

I'm still in EVAL mode at the minute so working with sales support but thought i'd give the wider community a shout :-)

Check your antivirus, check the credential is domain admin, check windows firewall and confirm you set your server up as a publishing server. Also check the correct credential is in the credential ring. Also check if the servers are not the same os that the wmi and rpc protocols are compatible with each other. There are alot of things that make this tick.

I would recreate the inventory task from scratch then and give that a try.  If the task was there prior to your certificate work there are likely some holdovers that can cause an issue.

When I go to Enterprise -> WSUS servers > MyWSUS Server there doesn't appear to be any problem, the information from the previous inventory is there and a test connection passes fine.

It's only failing when running a new inventory check.

I've confirmed the creds are working fine and have full access over not only WSUS but SPM too.

I am using the fqdn in the connection name but as the cert doesn't have just the hostname in it the connection fails without it.
