WinZip Patching - requires registration after patch

Question

Has anyone tried patching WinZip with Patch Manager?  Did you find that WinZip needed registering again after the patch installed?  I patched someone from version 14.5 to 20.5.  After the patch completed (successfully with no issues) the user launched WinZip, and was greeted with a "please register your copy of WinZip" message.  Has anyone found a way around this?  or found a way to supply the registration with the patch?

So with package boot you can choose what happens before and what happen after install including removing or moving things.  The last instruction listed below would be your option for that.  During editing your package for WinZip you could select the check box for package boot and look for the post install actions.  Alternatively you could ask Winzip if they have a mass register copy instead on a file based activation where you pay a mass license fee and then the installer comes preactivated once on the pc.  Let me know if you have any additional questions.

* Finally, you can manually place the WinZip.wzmul file in the WinZip subfolder in the Windows Common AppData folder. This folder contains application data for all users. A typical path for the WinZip.wzmul file is C:\ProgramData\WinZip. The presence of WinZip.wzmul in this folder will convert the evaluation version of WinZip to a registered version.

Hi Adam, Thanks for replying.  When we purchased WinZip licenses for our organization (100 users) we received two files: an installation file (used to install the product) and a "Multi-User Registration File" named "WinZip.wzmul".  Here's how we install WinZip today (including upgrades).  We run the installation file first and let it complete.  Upon completion, the installation will ask if you want to run WinZip now.  If you choose 'Yes', it will tell you that you are using an evaluation copy of WinZip and you need to register it.  We typically choose 'No' and then we right-click the registration file and choose "Register WinZip".  It will say that WinZip is registered.  Then when you launch WinZip, it bypasses that "evaluation copy" screen and goes directly into the product.

You may be able to use the package boot actions to implement a silent license input.  Does WinZip provide a silent registration license validation?  If so what is their process.  Once you would know that please get to me and I could instruct further.
