Surveillance camera monitoring

Is this possible? We are having issues with a number of cameras all over campus with varied Network connections (Different switch models, Switch PoE vs Injector PoE, NVR vs no NVR, etc) and different Camera manufacturers as well. I was wondering how I could ad some our problem children into SW as Nodes to gather data on them narrowing down what the issue is.

Best answer - If they support SNMP then you are rocking.
If Not -
You could treat them as an "external" device and use ping/icmp only, you at least get up down.
But your best would be if the devices support SNMP..
You could also get the MAC of the device and find where it is connected into your environment (switch and port) then monitor that port. Use an interface custom property, (something like "Service_Type") and set as "Camera Port". With this you can run a report for the camera ports and also create an alert just for theses ports Up/down/utilization. You may also find that you have some duplex miss-matches.

Unfortunately they do not support/have SNMP capability, But monitoring the specific port, that is a great idea! Thank you

Well this give you ammo for the next round of camera upgrades - "they must support snmpv3"
