SQL database latency Requirements for Orion NPM HA

Hi,

I'm working on plan for NPM deployment with HA configuration. And I stumbled upon some contradictions in SQL Database requirements and recommendations.

Here on the SolarWinds High Availability requirements page it says following:

  • The latency of pool members to the SQL server should always be under 200 ms. SolarWinds recommends that the latency remains under 100 ms.

But here on SQL Server configuration best practices for Orion Platform products it says:

  • A healthy database has the read and write latency of 1-5 ms. When the value rises to 10ms for more than a few peak values, there are issues.

Is that different kind of latency? If so - what does it represent? I will be glad if someone could elaborate on these statements.

I don't have a whole lot knowledge about SQL, so I will be relying DB requirements to DB engineers. But I would like to at least have an idea about what's needed.
