NetPath Configuration Question

Recently upgraded our Solarwinds installation to 2020.2.5.  I am trying to configure NetPath.  I originally pointed it to a network switch but all i would get is:

I then tried pointing it to a network printer that has http services running on it.  But again the same result.  Both devices are on our corporate WAN.

The Orion Server can load the web page for the network printer, so access to the device is not an issue.

The service is configured as:

and the probe is configured as:

Is it that what i am trying to accomplish is not possible?  or is it something needs to be configured on our Orion Server?  a trace route shows 4 devices between the server and the printer, so i assumed NetPath should have picked up something.

  • Hi SteveDBrown,

When open command prompt from your main poller, and perform tracert -d -w 1 10.22.32.7 do you get any results back?

have you tried point a port scanner against the host to verify what ports are open and test against them?

is there a firewall between the mainpoller and the endpoint?

  • tracert -d -w 1 10.22.32.7

Tracing route to 10.22.32.7 over a maximum of 30 hops

    1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.40.40.6
    2 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.252.1.3
    3 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.254.0.7
    4 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.22.32.7

    Trace complete.

The host is a printer/copier - the ports are open as i can load the webpage for the device.

Yes there is a firewall between the poller and the end device.
