Cisco 9500 false alarm

Hello, guys.

Due to a cisco bug, NPM is reporting false alarm for 9500 PSU. The bug is explained here: https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvv33848/?rfs=iqvred

The workaround is to use ciscoEnvMonSupplyState instead of cefcFRUPowerOperStatus.

ciscoEnvMonSupplyState - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.5.1

cefcFRUPowerOperStatus - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.1.2.1

Does anybody know how to make this change on NPM?

Usually have to wait a poll for the old hardware health data to go and the new hardware health information to come in.

If you mean the new hardware sensors are also reporting a PSU problem, the monitoring only reports what the SNMP OIDs are returning. You'll need Cisco to fix the SNMP bug.

If you edit the properties for that device, you will have an option to override the default hardware health MIB being polled. By default, SolarWinds global setting is to use the CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB first for all devices. You can change the device from "Use global setting" and force it to use the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB.

Note: this will change all of the hardware health monitoring for that device (PSU/fan/temperature).

The CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB uses cefcFRUPowerOperStatus
The CISCO-ENVMON-MIB uses ciscoEnvMonSupplyState

You can change the global setting under the Polling Settings on your admin page.

If you want to keep using the ENTITY-SENSOR MIB for some of the metrics it provides, the other workaround is to disable the specific PSU hardware health sensors and then create a Universal Device Poller (custom poller) that polls that specific OID. You'll then need to assign that poller to the device and set up alerting.

Thank you. I did the change by using the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB , but the alert is still present. I tried rediscover but no luck.
