Does xp_cmdshell need to be enabled on the SQL server for Solarwinds NPM ?

Does xp_cmdshell need to be enabled on the SQL server for Solarwinds NPM? Is there any issues that will occur if it is disabled?

It is being pointed out as a security risk so I would like to disable it if possible.

If the SQL server is remote then the answer is No, it's fine to disable it.
