I am trying to use the web-based map maker in the same way as I previously used Atlas.  A few questions:

- how do I embed maps within maps, child maps; i.e.: a regional map that red, green amber, status of a single campus location, that when clicked on opened a child map for just that campus.  That map would have red, green, amber statuses for individual buildings on the campus, than could be clicked on to launch a child map that are just the MDF and IDFs of that building.  We did this with Atlas and is greatly helpful for a NOC managing a global network.

- how do I embed gauges on the map as I could in Atlas

- how do I write variables in link labels as you could in Atlas to do things like render WAN circuit utilization directly on maps

- last, if there is a single guide that has all this information, can I get a link

So, on that release the functionality you want doesn't exist. Most of it does exist in RC 2020.2 - not that I've yet tried it just had a few chats with the product manager for it and have a meeting with him later today to discuss the future.

As it stands right now, Orion Maps still doesn't do all that we need from that which Atlas does. My advice, do what we plan to do, download the latest as a trial and run on a dev platform to see if does what you need. Thankfully we haven't suffered the upgrade issues you have but we are wary all the same.

We are on Orion Platform HF2, NPM 2019.4.  That said, every upgrade has been seriously painful in that SW and their favorite Austin native partner have never been able to pull one off without weeks of pain following a patch.  So, we are extremely adverse to believe them we they say "just upgrade, we've had dozens of customers do and never a problem."  That never turns out to be the case in a large distributed node deployment.  Their ever-changing database schema between revisions is a nightmare; always one DB script away from getting a not broken SW upgrade.  Either way, it seems like you all are saying the typical, one patch away from getting it right - love it!

First question has to be what version of Orion are you running?

I ask because most of what you want is not available in Orion Maps on anything before the current RC which is 2020.2. This version has made huge leaps and bounds forward - though I have yet to try it personally I have been in a few discussions with the product manager for it.
