Our organization often replaces end-of-life hardware with new hardware that keeps the same IP address as the old gear. For most of these swaps we've just let the existing Orion node take over monitoring the new hardware, since the IP is the same, and login/access/connectivity is the same.
However, this has led to several instances of a node where under the list of interfaces for that node, the old interfaces from the old hardware still shows up, but with status 'unknown', in addition to all the new interfaces.
I am unable to delete or remove these old unknown interfaces. I want to, since those interfaces don't exist anymore, and just clutter up the list of interfaces on that node, making it harder to see the existing/live interfaces.
When I go to Manage nodes, and show all interfaces, and find the old 'unknown' interfaces, it gives me the option to delete them, but they don't actually get deleted. When the page refreshes after deleting those interfaces, they're still there.
I have gone into 'List Resources' and forced a refresh of the interfaces on that node, but that doesn't help. It ensures that all the new interfaces are being monitored, but it doesn't get rid of the old ones that don't exist anymore.
I've looked into accessing the SQL db directly, and ran a query for when StatusLED = 'Unknown.gif', and it comes up with a whole bunch of results, but it just shows InterfaceID, and I don't know how to correlate those interfaceID's with the actual interfaces that I want to delete, and I wary of messing with the SQL db.
Any thoughts on how to remove these unwanted 'unknown' interfaces? I think the next thing i'll try is to remove the node completely and re-add it to monitoring, though I'd like to avoid that if possible.
