Anyone else having issues with cortex queries and SQL server?

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. On July 27th we had some really weird lockups of Orion for about 30 mins and again the next morning. It was very similar to the port exhaustion issue but it would just make everything dog slow for some time and then finally Orion site would not load.

Support had me run these queries and it deleted rows in the database

delete from dbo.PendingNotifications

delete from dbo.SubscriptionTags

delete from dbo.Subscriptions

delete from dbo.ContainerMemberSnapshots

delete from dbo.LimitationSnapshots

Ran these and rebooted app server and that seemed to fix thing for a bit. Then support had me apply a hot fix to replace these files

And that broke the network atlas and also I started seeing DCOM connection errors.

So removed the HF and that still did not fix the issue. Rebooting the server fixed the issue. Anyone else with this issue - don't apply the hot fix.

Not sure what your issue is, but yes we've had huge issues since upgrading, the cortex service is hammering the DB server causing massive issues. If you have a large environment I wouldn't recommend upgrading.

Support advised to update to the latest RC, when attempting to do that I received an error that my OS isn't supported now

Check this out from DPA, can anyone guess when I upgraded?

We have Cortex service flapping (ticket 00194303, almost 3 weeks... not serious), so maps url are broken, network atlas is broken, some widgets are broken, appstack is broken, perfstack is almost broken, mute/remute/manage/unmanage is almost broken...

my clients are killing me, the ticket is opened with the highest criticity, but support is very slow.

vinx, I've reviewed your case notes and it appears as though the problem you are experiancing is resolved in the NPM 12.4 RC which can be downloaded from the Customer Portal.

aLTeReGo i'm not very confiant deploying an RC on our production environment, although we have a lot of problems actually

The update to the latest version was supposed to fix an issue I was having with my webui going nuts, but that being said, I'm ready to install the RC to try and eliminate the Cortex issues. Even though support doesn't guarantee it will be a resolution if I can get the bits to work with my OS

I certainlly understand your reservations. It it helps to allay your fears, Release Candidates are the best possible time to identify and report new issues, as resolving those issues during the release candidate phase is the top priority of both support and engineering.

aLTeReGo what about us on 12.3 with Win-2012. Moving to 12.4 is not an option without a complete server rebuild for us. When will a HF for 12.3 be available

I went down this path with them when support told me to HF NCM - you had to patch your systems fully to get the HF for NCM. I have a ticket open for this same issue where I did not want to update things and just apply the HF.

I was informed today by support that dev decided to NOT enable support for server 2012, can we convince the customer to switch to new servers?

My thoughts.....Sure that's easy, we only have 20 servers, with firewalls, ACL's, etc..., gimme about 30 minutes and we'll switch them over.........

Hi guys,

I have received a 2nd buddy drop today, that fixed the cortex issue ! (first buddy drop : 1 dll and sql query ; second buddy drop : 1 dll)

What files did they supply you, I applied a buddy drop today, with a sql query and a dll with the name Solarwinds.cortexplugin.vman, replaced it on all my pollers. The memory consumption of this service has dwindled tremendously.

The file you mentioned was the first BD, tested last week without success on my environment
