Loss of Polling Data between Certain Hours
kindbro
Ok, I have a question for the Orion Forum Trolls. Ive had a problem with my sites getting complete polling information from 1230am to 230am. If you were to look at any interface you would see breaks in the graph line between those times. Has anyone ever had this problem, or can you please point me in the right direction as to how I can fix it. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
bret

Sounds like your nightly db maintenance. Check the maintenance schedule. You might want to do that on a weekly basis, depending on you particular SQL implementation (MSDE or full blown SQL). Search the Forum for
maintenance
or
database
for addition tips.
Here is a good thread around what you described:

Thanks jtimes, I guess I need 2lrn2query. There is a lot of good info on the link. My DB is 6.5 gigs, and the last time we ran a compact was in 2005. Im hoping the compact will solve my problems. Others hinted around that I could have my backups running around the times that I have the breaks in my polling, my loss of pollings are between 1230 and 230, but the only thing happening at that time is my Opimization which starts at 100am and my DB backup which runs at 215am. I guess I should schedule these to be run on the weekends.

So, I finally got thru to Solarwinds support and found out what was going on. Yes I did have scheduled jobs running between the hours where I had the lost polling data. What was interesting though is that the jobs kicked off at 1am, but my loss started at 1230. So what was going on? I guess before the 1am job kicked off, there is some preliminary stuff that happens before the 1am kickoff, so 1am actually was 1230am. I have since deleted that job and will see if it fixes my problem tomorrow, I will let you know then.
