Grouping Nodes - sub levels

Question

Hi,
  I think I've figured out the node grouping however I can only seem to get 2 levels working. For example I would like to have the following groupings:

->Toronto
-->Cisco-3550
--->Cisco-2950

I can get the first two layers working but not the last one (Cisco-2950). Mine turns out as:

->Toronto
-->Cisco-3550
-->Cisco-2950

I've given custom properties to the Cisco-3550 as Node1 and the Cisco-2950 as Node2. Can it be done ?

You can go up to 3 layers deep when grouping nodes.  I am not certain you can do what you're describing though.  It sounds as if you would like one network element dependant on another to be listed under it in the grouping.  Here is a way you may be able to pull this off:

Both nodes:
Location (you could use the SNMP location field as well) [Toronto]

On the Cisco 2950
ParentNode [Cisco-3550]

On the Cisco 3550
ParentNode [] (leave this field blank)

Then group on Location first and ParentNode second.
This will come close to providing the group set you are looking for.

Along the lines of what Isaac said....

As long as you base each layer on a different custom propery, you should be able to do this. If all your groupings will be the same - location >router >switch, then base your groupings on those 3 custom properties, and you should be in business.

You may have trouble linking a particluar switch to a router if you have mutiple routers & switches at each location, since you will only be able to group all routers & then all switches in a location.

I have mine based on Region >Building >Machine Type
This gives me Province >site(location code) >device type(Cisco switch, router, Windows, etc).
