Interface status change alert - how!

Question

We have 2 primary core switches at our head office, but not all of the ports are used. For unused ports I have changed them to "Unplugged" in the properties of the interface.

What we would like is to have an email alert if the status of an interface changed. For an unplugged interface, the status would be changing from "Unplugged" to "Up". That way we would know if any changes had been made on our core infrastructure.

Is it possible to create an alert for this?

Here is how I have configured my alert

One of our head office switches rebooted recently and I received an alert from each of the interfaces once the node had come back up.

However, on one of our Cisco core switches, I've tried plugging a cable into a port and then attaching a device so that the port is "UP". Then I've unplugged it, left it for a while and then replugged it.

The NPM event log shows the changes in state of the interface, but I never receive an alert.

I've been trying various ways to try to get this to work, but unsuccessfully. Could you please detail how the alert should be configured in order to achieve this?

Sure can in the advanced alert manager just create a new alert for when status changes to up for those specific interfaces
