Exchange Server port 25

Question

Hello all, I am trying to run my alerts which will trigger an email to me when something goes wrong for Solar Winds. It is not working and more importantly, the reason it is not working is because i can not telnet to port 25 from my Solar Winds server to my exchange server. Yes i do have mcaffee and i have turned that off. I have 2 exchange servers, a front end and back end set up and I can telnet to the remote server from each of the exchange server, but can not do it from any other machines. I have looked and looked and can not find where to change that. I am sure that my alerts are set up right, but it will not send the alerts because of the fact that it cant make a connection to port 25 from the solar winds server. Please someone who had this problem or know where i need to change that setting, let me know. It is not a problem of solar winds - as you may have guessed, but a bad setting on the exchange server. Yes. I had the same issue McAfee 8 has this enabled by default. I also think it prevents FTP by default.

i found what it was, and the bad thing is i had seen that before and just didnt think that was it. Yes, it was mcafee virus scan, but what i had done was i had turned that off on the exchange server so i thought it was all good but i was not able to telnet from my pc, come to find out that i needed to disable that function on my pc too!! So problem was solved.
