Telnet Script in Alerts

Question

I'm using an evaluation version of ORION 8.5.1 and have written a VBScript that telnets to a router and changes some config. I can initiate this manually.  When I configure an alert to perform this it fails to initiate, however, when testing the alert manually in ORION it works.  Is this a restriction of the evaluation version??

If not does anyone have a successful method using a script?

Thanks for your response.  I have applied all the hotfixes and service packs but still no luck with version 8.5.

On one of the sites has version 8.0 of ORION and again it cannot auto initiate a VB script or batch file in alerts for telnetting to Cisco devices. There are no hotfixes applied or service packs as I cannot see anything relating to alerts with version 8.0.

The strange thing is I have Engineers Toolset version 8.0 on the same server and it can auto initiate the batch file OK.  I have raised a call accordingly.

I'm not sure when you downloaded the evaluation, but verify that you have installed the SP3 for it.

SP3 addressed this:

* Execution of an external program or of VBScript with parameters now works correctly for Advanced Alert Actions and Trap rules
