Change Windows Credentials Save button fails

I'm currently experiencing a nightmare where I have had to change my Windows credentials used by SolarWinds against about 600 servers. I've made the change in AD but, in SolarWinds the save button is doing nothing. I have generated quite the event, Alert and ticket storm. I've tried two browsers Chrome and IE11. I'm uploading diags to support and not liking some of the suggestions..create a new account, etc. It looks like an issue where the update is simply not making it to the Db or rather the save button just does nothing but blink when I click on it. The dialog box never goes away. I can hit cancel and try over and over again with the same result. I've created and deleted a test account and it to does not allow the save button to be used.

This issue is resolved. It turns out there were some phantom discovery profiles that had to be deleted. Who would of thought the process of saving or changing a password in Windows credentials could be failed by a bad discovery profile? I suppose since Windows credentials can be created or selected when creating a profile there must be some link such that when hitting save some effort is made to update those profiles as well. If you have have a bad/corrupted profile it fails with no apparent error. YOU have to dig for the clues such as null reference pointers in the Orion web log and a series of other errors that that indicate there is a bad discovery profile. In my case, the profiles did not list in network discovery but could be found, and deleted from the database. I have no clue how they got there. Anyway, once deleted these profiles the problem was solved.

Do you have a query to find the phantom Discovery Profiles? I noticed that the Save button for the Windows Credential Password dialog is set to an Unselectable state. Thinking that this was a bug, i created a work around.

WMI Polling

Windows Credential Passwords for Polling are currently unavailable to be changed for us in SolarWinds.

A simple query to display Nodes and their Current Credential used.

Select Nodes.Caption, Credential.Name from Credentialinner join NodeSettings on Credential.ID=NodeSettings.SettingValueinner join Nodes on NodeSettings.NodeID=Nodes.NodeIDwhere NodeSettings.SettingName='WMICredential'group by Credential.Name, Nodes.Caption

I Imported the results of the query into Custom Properties to populate the WMICredential Custom Property field
A New Windows Credential needs to be created similar to the original name.
1. Example - Current Account: SVC_SolarWinds New Account: SVC_SolarWinds2
Navigate to Manage Nodes, then Group By “WMICredential” and Select Current Account, Example SVC_SolarWinds
Select All Nodes in the group and click Edit Properties. This will take some time to load depending on the number of nodes selected.
Go to the Polling Method section and Select the New Account from the Credential Drop Down and Save Changes at the Bottom. This will take some time to process depending on the number of nodes selected.
Once this is done, verify that nodes can be polled without error with the New Account.
You can now Delete the Old Credential from the Windows Credentials if it shows 0 Nodes using it.
You will need to edit the SAM Credentials if the changed account is being used for SAM.

Password changes for SAM Credentials can be done from the Credential Library without any workaround with the link below.

Nothing specific. I believe I got the profile Id from the Orion Web log and then looked in [SolarWindsOrion].[dbo].[DiscoveryProfiles]

There seems to be a different, well kinda related issue with a Large number of Discovery Profiles and the Windows Cred change not being able to update a large number of profiles. There is an official bug in place and there just be a fix in later releases.
