Stuck Unknown interface states on a Device

I have a 6509 Catalyst that was restarted over the weekend and all of the interfaces associated with it are stuck in the unknown state. The device shows green with the yellow warning. When I drill down to the device it's unknown for all interfaces. I tried using system manager to rediscover the device and do manual polling. I verified the SNMP info and did another rediscover and poll. So far nothing. I'm new to Orion. Is there some trick to getting it to start tracking the interfaces again?

Are you using v 8.1? What SNMP version?

Have you verified any Access List changes?

Try to click on Node details and unmanage the node- and then add it back -

A couple of things:

If you're running the CatIOS - some versions will 'lose' their SNMP configuration and you won't be able to poll them consistently
If you're running the CatOS - Make sure that you don't need to enable snmp ifindex persistence. Otherwise, every time you boot after any kind of a card change, all the interfaces will re-index themselves with a different number. You can check this by going to the switch, pick a port and do a 'show port [card]/[port]'. The output at the end of the second line will show 'IfIndex". Compare this to what SW Orion thinks the index is by showing the interface details. If they don't match, then you need to enable persistence and rediscover your switch in Orion.

Orion version 8.0.2. SNMPv3. Definitely no access-list problems. I did the unmanage and then back without success.

Is there any kind of ifindex persistence in native IOS? I can see the interface index number in interface details in System Manager, but how do I view what it should correspond to in IOS?

I hope I didn't jump the gun on this but thinking maybe it was the ifindex mismatch problem for the interfaces I deleted the node and readded it. When I did that two interfaces came up as green but the rest are still in unknown state. Is there any kind of memory in orion for a deleted node that I could clear to completely reimport it from nothing? I'm thinking maybe it's not all getting flushed. The interfaces in unknown state are all unrouted-vlan interfaces, this is possibly significant? Thanks for you help. I'm really confused here.

If it's just unrouted VLAN interfaces, then don't bother managing them (same thing applies to EOBC, NULL, etc.) They have no real meaning/expression even if they did report properly (and they tend not to report properly even when you do get data...)
