Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
monitor IP w/o alerting
mschwarz
I have several offices that have ISDN connections that dial when the primary T1 goes down. I would like to display the ISDN connection status via pinging the interface IP so that I can graphically see that it is up when the T1 drops. But 99% of the time the ISDN connection is down and I'd rather not see the warnings on my Solar Winds map all the time. Is there a way to add a node to Orian and not have alerting on it or is there a way to reverse alert a node so that the node goes into alarm only when it is up?
Thanks for any advice, -Matt

Hi Matt,
This question has been asked before, but it seems like there is no real solution to this one:
I did a search for "isdn" & found these posts.

It's only in Beta currently, but you could use the SNMP Trap Alert. That might solve half of your requirements. It can notify when it sees a specific trap (ie BRI channel up).

ok. Thank you for all your replies. It doesnt look like there is a good way to integrate this typical network layout.
But... I like the idea of creating a separate group just for my ISDN connections. When that Icon turns green then I know ISDN kicked in somewhere and I can pull up the ISDN group to check it out. I may play with putting the isdn connection on my main map and suppress the alerts w/in Solar winds.
Still waiting for SNMP V3 support... December I guess.
-Matt
